Sabalan is the third highest peak in Iran and an inactive volcanic mountain. Mount Sabalan overlooks the three cities of Ardebil, Ahar and Meshgin Shahr. This mountain is 25 km southeast of Meshgin city and about 40 km from the city of Ardabil. According to people’s beliefs, there is a tomb located on Mount Sabalan, belonging to the Prophet of Zoroaster and is the place of worship and prayer of Zoroaster.
